Decent Energy Co-Founder Featured on the Net Zero Compare Podcast

22 December 2025by Tom CoxPress

Our Co-Founder Sally recently appeared on the Net Zero Compare Podcast to discuss weather forecasting, demand flexibility, and the role of smart batteries in decarbonising home energy.

Our Co-Founder and Director of Weather & Energy Operations Sally Sattary recently joined the Net Zero Compare Podcast for an in-depth conversation on how weather intelligence and demand-side flexibility are shaping renewable-heavy power systems.

During the episode, Sally shared insights from her background in meteorology and energy forecasting, exploring how weather uncertainty affects solar generation and why traditional forecasting methods often fall short in modern electricity systems. The discussion covered topics such as microclimates, fog, and short-duration weather events, all of which can have an outsized impact on solar output and grid stability.

The conversation also explored the Decent Energy mission to decarbonise demand by helping households shift when they use electricity. By aligning battery charging and discharging with periods of lower carbon intensity and lower energy prices, our approach supports both cost savings for customers and reductions in carbon emissions across the grid.

Sally also introduced Shîfter, our battery optimisation tool, which automates charging and discharging for compatible solar and battery systems. Designed to work quietly in the background, Shîfter helps households make better use of stored renewable energy without requiring active management from users.

We’d like to thank Net Zero Compare for the opportunity to take part in such an insightful discussion.
